Once it is write protected, you can't delete or change anything & PNY is doing nothing to help. I wouldn't personally be willing to hand them all of my back ups.To sum it up, buy a better brand. I paid $70 & they just told me tough. I can't return mine because it is more than a year old. It works great in the beginning, but after some time the drive becomes write protected without you doing anything. I would not recommend this memory stick. I contacted PNY regarding this & they told me the drive is defective. If you check on google, this is a common problem.Even if you catch this quick enough for the return, you will have to give up your drive with all of your personal information on it if you want a new drive.
"Bought this 4GB drive for the readyboost option to speed up my 2GB RAM 320GB HD Vista computer. It performs great especially when multitasking"
I've had no problems and I HAVE noticed a change in system performance speed - or at least the things that Ready Boost effects. I'm using this drive for Vista Ready Boost. Great value.
In real life file transfers, it peaks at around 6-7Mbps--but for the price, not a bad deal. You can format it to NTFS or exFAT to store large video files (over 4GB, the FAT32 limit). I picked up this 16GB PNY flash drive for cheap at a local store. It holds 16GB and works as stated. Only issue is speed.
I got this drive to upgrade to more storage. Over the past two years, I've carried it around in the bottom of my bad, crunched it with my chair (I put a kink in it permanently) and put it through the washing machine. And it still works.Who cares if it's not as pretty as some of the other drives - it doesn't quit.I give it 5 stars for pure grit.
